Art Portfolio

That is what I want to break out of. This is what we, as a society need to break out of. My art is not about the right strokes, the right colors, the right ratios. It’s about the right intention. It’s about creating for inclusivity. So that as this spreads, we all can see ourselves everywhere. We become the ideal body types. And only look at being better, not someone else. Over time, this has expanded to a more varied array of purposes through art, dealing with more titles and more diversity.

The Reclaiming

Look at yourself. You’re beautiful. We are so diverse in how we look. No one better than the other, no one more beautiful. Yes, someone fits more into the “standard of beauty.” But quash these standards!! We are worthy of self-love, and acceptance – and change is here.

Makeup is for everyone

Makeup shouldn’t be gendered. It should not be for women and it shouldn’t be unavailable to anyone. This creates sexist expectations on women to look “flawless” and apply makeup even when they don’t want to. On the other end of the spectrum, the societal dictation restricts everyone else from freely applying makeup. But we are evolving. The only person who can decide who is okay wearing makeup is – YOU.

“Colorful” beauty

Beauty is not defined in measurements, beauty is not defined in a colour. The only reason one body type or one race is more often associated with beauty is because of lack of representation. Every color drips love. It’s time we saw more of it.

Family

‘Love’

Conventional media displays a happy family as a father, a mother, and the child. However, families are made up of love. They are not dependent on color. They are not dependent on how someone is biologically related. And they definitely do not fit into the box of heterosexuality.

Oppression and Rebellion

Measuring tapes have long been defining health. Misleading us, like the BMI. Having been defined without accounting for the difference in body types based on ethnicities, it pushes everyone to unhealthy standards. This creates systematic oppression and clouding of identities, and it’s time we rose.

Big

Many clothing brands only make clothes up to a certain size in their main lines. Either they have a separate line, often termed as, “Big & Tall” or there are specific brands that cater to this. I wonder, why are humans so quick to segregate? Why is everyone ultimately put in a box?

Teenage Brain

Contrary to what most adults think, teenagers are not “kids.” We are young, thoughtful, and responsible members of this society, with dreams to bring about change, dreams to make this world a better place. These are some of my old paintings that show the many thoughts crossing my mind in the rawest form – in anonymous colors.

I don’t belong in a box

These are some of my older paintings from when I started to draw myself in different ways, using different painting styles and colors to reiterate that I did not belong to any. I am a colorful mess, a chameleon. I reflect different hues on different days and accepting me is accepting all of me.

Close up

Things look different when you look at things closely, a perfect metaphor for all our lives. The perfection and filters we see on Instagrams and Facebooks are rarely aligned with our real lives.
